The word Advent means "coming" or "arrival." The focus of the entire season is preparation to celebrate the birth of Jesus the Christ in his First Advent, and the anticipation of the return of Christ the King in his Second Advent. It is celebrating a truth about God, the revelation of God in Christ whereby all of creation might be reconciled to God.

The Advent Candles are placed in the Advent Wreath of evergreen. The candles are lit each of the four Advent Sundays. The first Sunday we light a purple/violet candle. Representing HOPE; the second Sunday we light the next purple candle representing PEACE; the third Sunday we light both previous and adding the pink candle representing JOY; the fourth candle we light representing LOVE. The WHITE center candle we light on Christmas Eve representing. The sinless, spotless, Savior – CHRIST.
